The City of Petrinja
The City of Petrinja is located on the right bank of the Kupa, at the mouth of the Petrinjčica. The area of the town of Petrinja is an integral part of Sisak-Moslavina County and covers an area of 380.94 km2.
The pride of Petrinja is its long tradition of cultural creativity, created over centuries, recorded in numerous publications by the guardians of Petrinja’s history and on the canvases of fine artists. The name Petrinja probably comes from the Latin word petrus, which means rock, stone, cliff, and may be related to one of the ancient Roman settlements in the stone-rich areas of Zrinska Gora.
